Human Nature

Alexander Reiner

God and disease fearing
Computers watching corn grow
Birds with flu
Through mutations, to you
From experience is all we can know
And the gorgeous young blondes
Straight out of college
Talk on TV of terrorism
But their shirts are cut low
And I can’t help to show
More attention to their bosoms
But we love to be entertained
By body counts, amounts slain
Within these comfortable houses
Cars with no top
Among SUVs in the lot
At work, not to mention your spouse’s.
For she gets twelve miles per gallon
But recycles the diet coke cans
They’re just a distraction, still
From the booze that she’s taken with pills
To escape the self-appointed hell of her husband
And now twilight falls, then night, then dawn
Everyone is much too scared
Because there is a sickness
From blonde sensationalists
Who wouldn’t otherwise care.
Thank God for paychecks
And this whole damn system
You’ve caused fear for all.
Even I,
A true heathen inside
Could begin to believe it’s your fault.
