History Club and Phi Alpha Theta

The History Club
The History Club is an informal organization of students interested in history. The names and phone numbers of its current officers are available in the History Department office. The club is a loosely structured group which sponsors such activities as sessions on what to do with a history degree, field trips to historical museums, faculty/student panel discussions, and brown-bag lunch-time talks. If you would like to know more about History Club activities, please ask in the History Department office for the name(s) of the student organizer(s) or faculty advisor, and watch for their announcements posted on History bulletin boards. The History advisor also posts news about upcoming History Club events at his blog. All students are welcome to attend these events, you do not need to be an honor student, or even a History major.

Phi Alpha Theta
Phi Alpha Theta is the national history honorary society, with a chapter at CU-Boulder. Students who have completed a minimum of 12 hours in history with a G.P.A. of 3.3 or better and who have a general G.P.A. of at least 3.2 are eligible for membership. Upon payment of an initiation fee, members of Phi Alpha Theta receive The Historian, a history journal, and are eligible to take part in essay and fellowship competitions. Induction of new members is held annually. If you are interested and eligible, contact the History department office for an application and to find out who the current faculty sponsor is.
