Faculty Searches

The Department of History is currently running 3 searches for full-time tenure-track faculty:

United States, 1870-1940, Assistant or Early Associate Professor, tenure-track. The History Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant or early associate professor of the history of the Gilded Age/Progressive Era (to 1940) to begin August 2009. The Department is particularly interested in candidates who work in social, cultural, and political history, broadly defined, as well as those who might specialize in labor, migration, or environmental history. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in History by the time of appointment and be able to demonstrate the potential for excellent scholarship and effective teaching. Duties will include teaching survey, upper-division, and graduate courses; researching and publishing; and contributing service to the university and to the profession. Modern Japanese History, Assistant Professor, tenure-track. The History Department at the University of Colorado at Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor of Modern Japanese History (late nineteenth century and after) to begin August 2009. All subfields and areas of specialization will be considered. Qualified applicants will have a Ph.D. in History by the time of appointment and will be able to demonstrate the potential for excellent scholarship and effective teaching. China (Tang-Qing), Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Candidates should have a significant focus on China's interaction with a cultural or ethnic other (or borderlands), and should be prepared to teach a course on Islam in China on a regular basis. Duties will include teaching survey, upper-division, and graduate courses; researching and publishing; and contributing service to the university and to the profession.
