Paper Presentation Guidelines

On April 21, you’ll present your work in class.  Plan to speak for about 15 minutes and to answer questions afterwards.

We’ll organize presentations into two panels and the goal will be to replicate the experience of presenting at a professional conference.

In preparing your presentation, concentrate on clearly and concisely conveying your argument and your analysis of the secondary texts you’re using to write your paper.  I particularly encourage you to discuss any problems you’re having with your paper.  Your colleagues may have helpful suggestions.  You may wish to bring handouts, but additional materials are not required.  You should not read from a prepared text; know your material well enough that you can speak (or at least pretend to speak) somewhat extemporaneously.  (This is a vital skill for job talks!)

Presentations will be graded pass/fail.
