Condom Tips

How to Put on a Condom Correctly

  • Check expiration date and open package carefully (no teeth or nails).
  • Place on tip of erect penis and squeeze the air out of the tip of the condom to prevent breakage.
  • Roll the condom all of the way down to the base of the penis.
  • After coming, withdraw the penis while still hard (hold on to rim while withdrawing).
  • Remove condom facing away from partner and throw it away (do not re-use).

Happy Facts

  • A condom can be stretched to the length of over four feet (And who says you're too big?).
  • 5 billion condoms are used annually worldwide.
  • Internal condoms can be inserted up to six hours before sex and provide protection against infections and pregnancy.
  • Using latex protection during oral sex can reduce the risk of transmitting infections.
  • Condoms can help maintain an erection.

Not-so-happy Facts

  • At least 55 million Americans have a sexually transmitted infection-that's 1 in 4 adults.

  • You can get a number of infections from unprotected oral sex.
  • 1 in 5 newly infected individuals with HIV in the US has a drug resistant strain of the virus.
