Important Information for Allergy Shot Patients
Adverse Reaction Precaution
Due to the possibility of serious reactions from injections, all patients are required to wait 30 minutes after each shot to have their injection sites checked by a nurse. Patients who cannot stay 30 minutes will not be given injections – no exceptions.
Vial Storage
If you are unable to refrigerate your vials, we will gladly refrigerate them for you. Vials may be dropped off at any time during regular business hours. Your vials must be clearly labeled with your name, expiration date, and contents including antigens, glycerin, etc.
New Allergy Shot Patients
All students receiving allergy shots are required to make an initial appointment with a nurse before prior to your first shot.
You will need to bring the following from your allergist to your initial appointment:
- Paperwork stating your diagnosis (why you need allergy shots)
- A brief statement of your medical workup (including your skin testing results)
- A detailed shot schedule to be followed along with any special instructions for your care
- Your most recent allergy shot record showing where you left off
- Your antigen vials – must be clearly labeled with your name, expiration date, contents including antigens, glycerin, etc.
A Request for Allergy Information letter is available for download to assist you with requesting these materials from your allergist.
Returning Allergy Shot Patients
If you are a returning patient and have been away for the summer, please remember to bring in your most recent shot records for your returning visit.
Wardenburg does not offer allergy skin testing.
