Alan earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He returned to UNC-CH and earned his Masters in Social Work in 2011. Alan has worked with adults with severe mental illness as well as individuals experiencing their first episodes of psychosis. Through his work with young adults experiencing psychosis, he became interested in working with the college age group. He has training in Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Areas of Interest: Psychotic disorders, severe mental illness, substance use, and personality adaptations.
