High with a Headache
Few things will ruin a fun day in Colorado faster than altitude sickness. Common symptoms include headache, fatigue, and nausea. Ward off this common annoyance by drinking plenty of water and avoiding overexertion. If symptoms are moderate to severe, decrease your altitude and seek medical attention.

Be a Buffalo - Not a Lobster!
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the US, but you don't have to fall victim to it. Seek shade, cover up with clothing, wear a hat and shades, and apply sunscreen. Remember that UV rays can still damage skin on cloudy days and that the high elevations of Colorado increase exposure to these harmful rays. Have fun in the sun, but don't get burnt!

Keep Mosquitos at Bay
Protect yourself from mosquitos and diseases they carry - like West Nile Virus - by remembering the four D's: DRAIN standing water to eliminate breeding grounds, stay indoors at DUSK and DAWN when mosquitos are most active, use insect repellent with DEET, and DRESS in long sleeves and pants to protect yourself.
