Faculty from several COPFFN institutions will speak on career and teaching panels and will answer grad students' questions about faculty jobs at different types of institutions. 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees. Although COPFFN is a FREE event, we ask that you rsvp if you are planning to attend so that we can plan for meals. All attendees should sign in at each workshop in order to earn credit toward Graduate Teacher Program teaching and professional development certificates.

Instructors adopt diagnostic and formative assessment tools, such as clickers and e-homework, to actively engage students in and outside the classroom. Past exams are intended to promote self-assessment; timed practice exams were required to help students address their weaknesses and improve their performance in a first-semester organic chemistry course.

11:00 - Noon   The Colorado Community College System and NANSLO: Building the Next Generation of Online Science Education 

PJ Bennet, NANSLO Technology Lab Manager, Colorado Community College System 

The STEM disciplines have historically lagged behind other disciplines in both availability and acceptance in the online environment mostly due to the laboratory component of these classes. In an attempt to mediate this discrepancy, the Colorado Community College System (CCCS) has embarked on an international project to create a novel solution to distance laboratory courses. Dr. Bennett will explain how the mission and function of the CCCS has led to a fundamental need for online STEM courses and how the North American Network of Science Labs Online (NANSLO) is filling this need.

1:30 - 2:30 PM      Using Interactive Theatre to Support Graduate Student Teachers and Faculty at Different Types of Institutions 

Interactive Theatre Project, University of Colorado Boulder 

Faculty and graduate students in different types of institutions interact with varying levels of student diversity. The Interactive Theatre Project will perform theatrical scenarios that address what future faculty might need to consider in their job search.
