LEAD GRADUATE TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

The Lead Graduate Teacher (Lead) acts as a liaison between the Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) and the home department, and assists with discipline-specific TA training in the home department. Leads are trained to be teaching consultants and do not evaluate their peers. The Lead is hired and evaluated by the Director of the Graduate Teacher Program and the home department chair, and reports directly to the Lead Coordinators and to a faculty Mentor. Leads develop plans, schedules and materials for the implementation of activities in the home department. Leads also benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration with other Leads and the GTP staff. The Lead may serve for either one or two years, but must reapply the second year. Candidates’ applications must be approved by their department chair and TA supervisor/coordinator (or other faculty as required by the department).

SUEP PRE-PROF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pre-Prof Lead acts as a liaison between the Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) and Special Undergraduate Enrichment Programs (SUEP), and introduces undergraduate students to the idea of becoming a professor. Pre-Prof Leads create programming that supports and encourages undergraduate students to go to graduate school and to consider careers as college or university faculty members. The Pre-Prof Leads are hired and evaluated by the Directors of the GTP and SUEP and report directly to the GTP Lead Coordinators and the Pre-Prof faculty Mentor. Preferably, the Lead serves for two years, but must reapply the second year.


MCNAIR PRE-PROF JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pre-Prof Lead acts as a liaison between the Graduate Teacher Program (GTP) and McNair Program, and introduces undergraduate students to the idea of becoming a professor. Pre-Prof Leads create programming that supports and encourages undergraduate students to go to graduate school and to consider careers as college or university faculty members. The Pre-Prof Leads are hired and evaluated by the Directors of the GTP and the McNair Program and report directly to the GTP Lead Coordinators and the Pre-Prof Faculty Mentor. The Lead preferably serves for two years, but must reapply the second year.
