The students in the SWED 3020 Advanced Swedish class had a unique opportunity to use their new language skills in the Spring of 2016. They were asked to write an article for the Swedish magazine Sverigekontakt. The article describes the Swedish Program at CU, which has grown to become one of very few programs in the U.S. offering three years of Swedish Language Studies. The GSLL Swedish Studies article was published in the 2016:2 issue of Sverigekontakt, the magazine of Riksföreningen Sverigekontakt (The Royal Society for Swedish Culture Abroad). Riksföreningen Sverigekontakt is a non-profit organization that helps build relationships with people around the world who are interested in Sweden, the Swedish language and Swedish culture. The GSLL Swedish Program is an excellent example of how an academic program allow students to deepen their interdisciplinary culture studies by learning the language of their region of interest.
