Warm congratulations to Professor of German Studies Ann Schmiesing, the 2016 recipient of the BFA Excellence in Leadership and Service Award. Prof. Schmiesing is a true pillar of our department as well as the one of those professors who carries with talent and inspiration most difficult and time-consuming service responsibilities on campus. At GSLL, she has been fulfilling all possible administrative duties, being the chair, the undergraduate and graduate associate chair, serving for decades on Executive, numerous PUEC’s, and Peer Evaluation Committees. She chaired and served on dozens of committees for tenure and promotion. She mentored the entire generation of young faculty members. Currently, Ann is directing the Sewell RAP and serving as the GSLL Undergraduate Associate Chair. She has also dedicated much of her time to developing the project of the new Arts and Science Core Curriculum. Congratulations, Ann! You deserve this award so much!
