Service and Philanthropy

Greek women’s interests and concerns go beyond the confines of campus life. Sororities sponsor a multitude of activities each year to impact the local community and earn money for their special philanthropies or identified causes. Each chapter also donates its time to a particular project either locally or nationally. Individual chapter philanthropies include:

  • Alpha Chi Late Night Nacho Fest
  • Alpha O Block Party
  • Alpha Phi’s Phi-B-Q
  • Chi O Cookout
  • Delta Dodge Ball
  • Fiesta DG
  • Gamma Phi’s SpaGammi
  • Theta Ole
  • Chile con Kappa
  • Pi Phi’s Jenna Druck Breadbowl

Each year, the Panhellenic Association fills campus and community needs in its sponsorship and support of such events as clothing drives, toy drives, and canned-food drives. In 2005-06, the Greek community contributed thousands of community service hours and dollars to local and national charities.

Many individual Greek women also volunteer in such local programs as Habitat for Humanity and Adopt-a-School children’s tutoring. The opportunities you will encounter to help benefit philanthropies and the community are endless. The ability to give yourself is one of the most important qualities you will develop or cultivate while being part of a sorority.

***Congratulations to the CU Greeks for raising over $52,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network at Dance Marathon 2006! Thanks to all of our supporters – and a very special thank you to all of the families that participated!!!
