Purpose
Professional staff in the Student Affairs division work with student
leaders in Greek Life because the university believes its mission and
goals are compatible with the professed purposes of the nationally
affiliated sororities and fraternities that exist in the United States.
The Office of the Dean of Students acts as a communication link and
advocate between Greek-affiliated students and the university and others
outside the university that have an interest in the Greek community at
the University of Colorado, Boulder. The Office of the Dean of Students
also assists in the implementation of good self-government and positive
leadership development within the Greek community at CU-Boulder.
As a university we do not exercise direct control over the Greek system
because sororities and fraternities at CU-Boulder are not legally
affiliated with the university. On the other hand, the university does
seek to influence the nature and operations of the Greek community that
is recognized by the Panhellenic Association and the Multicultural Greek
Council (MGC). For this reason the Office of the Dean of Students works
closely with the MGC and the Panhellenic Executive Council and all of
the various national headquarters, local alumni boards, and advisors.
Please feel free to contact Greek Life at 303-492-6359 or the Office of
the Dean of Students at 303-492-8476 with questions.
