There are two areas of study available at the MA level: one prepares students for clinical practice and professional certification in speech-language pathology, and the other offers students the opportunity to pursue a research focus without clinical preparation. Two areas of study are also available at the Doctoral level: the PhD program is designed to prepare students for research careers, and the Doctorate of Audiology (AUD) prepares students for clinical practice and professional certification in the field of audiology.

Fall admission only
MA: Speech Language Pathology
Two-year post-baccalaureate degree that requires approximately 42 graduate-level credits of academic coursework, as well as clinical education requirements.
Four-year post-baccalaureate degree that requires approximately 97 graduate-level credits consisting of academic coursework, clinical practicum experiences, a capstone project and advanced clinical rotations. Students with certification in audiology may also apply to the program and may apply previous graduate coursework to a portion of the requirements.

MA: Research Program
Requires 30 credit hours of graduate coursework, with six credit hours devoted to the master’s thesis. At least 24 hours must be completed at the 5000 level or above. A maximum of 6 credit hours may be completed at the 3000 or 4000 level at the discretion of the academic department.
Requires study within an area of specific interest within the disciplines of speech, language, and hearing sciences, with mentorship from faculty. Options are available for a dual PhD in SLHS and Neuroscience and SLHS and Cognitive Science. There is no foreign language requirement.
The Fall Deadline for domestic applicants is January 15, 2017, but we strongly encourage earlier submissions. The Spring Deadline for the MA Research and the PhD programs is October 1, 2016.
