Study Abroad Program in Reykjavík, Iceland

Every summer, Helga Luthers, Instructor of the Nordic Studies and a native of Iceland, takes a group of 10-15 students to Iceland for a 2 week long intensive from late July through the first week of August. Students are highly encouraged to either arrive earlier or stay on for an additional week for independent travel. For full information please visit the Study Abroad website here.

In addition to traditional coursework, largely to be completed before departure for Iceland, students will be visiting deCODE Genetics, a global leader in gene discovery, the Film in Iceland Foundation, and taking a trip into the Icelandic highlands with a stop at a glacier, to list but a few scheduled excursion. The proposed course, SCAN 3201 – Contemporary Nordic Society and Culture, provides 3 credits toward the core requirement of Contemporary Societies.
