searchable map on the web?

Hey listeros,

I am a Linguist from the UNiv. of Bonn, Germany so I am not familiar w/ geographic resources. I am desperately looking for a searchable map on the web, where you can search the map with gps-coordinates or other coordinates. Somebody knows where?
Or (if not online) on CDR?
