Hi everyone,
Just finished going through all your home pages and comments and am looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks. My Human Geog technology projects here at Chico have just ended and I have a lot to share and to ask you about...
Now to try to expand what I learned to include development of one or two modules on particular topics in the course while we are together. I've been thinking about doing something on migration and/or ethnic geography that could also in a couple of my other courses.Have any of you already developed a module on these topics? I'd like to focus on the American West and do something relating to immigrant settlement in the past one hundred years. Ideas about what I should bring with me?
By the way, the only stuff I have tried so far includes (1)web-based research and writing carried out by collaborative groups of 5-6 students; (2) weekly e-mail question and answer sessions coordinated by my grad assistant; (3)small group discussions online linking text readings, videos, and notes from our class lecture/discussions.
Ideas you may have for expanding the use of technology in an intro Human Geog. course are more than welcome...either in this forum or when we get together in real time in Austin.
P.S. Is there a way to do a spell check in this venue? Otherwise, my typos may drive y'all insane.
