One place to begin is to think of modules which can
be used in the classroom (live). These types of
modules need to brief (the lecturer will provide
most of the content) but dynamic, illustrative of
specific principles or broad concepts. We've
developed some simple Java applets to demonstrate
some basic GIS operations (overlays, buffers, etc.)
so that, in class, during a lecture, the students
can see an overlay in action. They can then test
things out latter at home using the same tools.
(By using Java we've eliminated the problem of
software licenses, etc.).
Any thoughts on the modules would be appreciated!
