Mapping Your Favorite Place
Step 6. Grading Criteria
The assignment will be graded on a 100 point scale based on the following criteria:
1) Overall Cartographic Message (25 points):
- Can the directions to your favorite place be read easily?
- Do the title and text support the message of your map?
- Are details given when, and only when necessary?
2) Layout of
Map (25 points):
- How well does the layout of the map support your message?
- Are elements sized and arranged in order of their importance to the
message of the map?
3) Map Elements (20 points):
- Does the layout contain all necessary map elements?
- Layout must include title, date, your name
- Each map may or may not need: legend, scale, direction arrow
4) Use of Digital Files from the Web (20 points):
- Are the best or most appropriate digital files used from the Web?
- Have the files been cropped, edited, or modified effectively?
- Are the base files credited to their original authors or sources?
- Have the files come from two or more web sources?
5) The Final File (10 points):
- Did your file open without errors?
- Is the file, CD, DVD, memory stick properly labeled?
- Does your disk or file contain viruses?
- Are special fonts embedded correctly in file?
