Putting a Title on Your Map

The map below of Fayette County (5" x 7")  has a title that is too far from the map, so it is necessary to crop it away.  When you remove the title, you need to make a new one.  Instructions on how to do this are shown below this map.

The map below had the original title cropped away and a new title created with Microsoft Word's text box tool. Here's how to create a title in a text box: menu bar/view/toolbars/drawing

  1. a toolbar will appear somewhere in the window (it may float in the text area or be attached to the top or the bottom of the window)
  2. click the toolbar's text box icon--it has 6 horizontal lines and the letter "A" on it
  3. place the cursor inside the text box and type your title
  4. resize the text box as necessary and center it near the top of your map
Note that the map below has a legend.  To learn how to put a legend on your map, return to "how to import DDViewer maps into Word"
