How to Import Statistical Info from DDViewer into Microsoft Word

  1. The DDViewer map window with the finished map should be the active window (i.e., it is on top of the desktop and the top part of the window is shaded in blue or some other active color)
    1. Microsoft Word should have a large text box (e.g., approximately 3" by 3") and be running in the background
      1. to get a text box: menu bar/view/toolbars/drawing
        1.
        2. a toolbar will appear somewhere in the window (it may float in the text area or be attached to the top or the bottom of the window)
        3. click the toolbar's text box icon--it has 6 horizontal lines and the letter "A" on it
        4. draw 2 text boxes with left click drags and center them beneath the 2 charts
          1.
          2. this example shows the proper location of the 2 text boxes
  2. Click the "Stat" radio button at the bottom of the DDViewer map window
    1.
    2. use a left click drag to select the text from the minimum or "Min" through the third quartile or "Q3 15526 - 75th Percentile"
    3. it will look something like the six lines shown below
    4. copy it (Ctrl C)
    MIN 0 - Smallest Value
    MEAN 14597.76 - Mean Value
    MAX 28801 - Largest Value

    Q1 13706 - 25th Percentile
    Q2/MEDIAN 14338 - Median or 50th Percentile
    Q3 15526 - 75th Percentile

  3. Make Microsoft Word the active window
  4. Paste the DDViewer info into Word:
    1. place the cursor inside the text box
    2. menu bar/edit/paste (shortcut: Ctrl V), and the info should appear
    3. clean it up: get rid of the excess spaces and words (see the items colored red above)
    4. when it is cleaned up, it should look something like this:

    5.

      MIN 0
      MEAN 14597.76
      MAX 28801
      13706 - 25th Percentile
      14338 - Median
      15526 - 75th Percentile

    6. highlight all the text, change the font size to 10, and center the text
    7. the 2 text boxes should be evenly sized and spaced
      1.
      2. the text boxes can be evenly sized by placing one image on top of another and then making adjustments
      3. the text boxes can be evenly spaced by vertically lining up the center of the text box with the center of the map and chart above it
Your page should now be complete with 2 maps, 2 charts, and 2 text boxes
here's an example of what a completed page looks like
you may wish to look at your layout in 10 or 25% view: Menu Bar/View/Zoom (shortcut: zoom button on standard tool bar)
