Site Four - Canon Ave. Bridge and Lafayette Road Bridge

This location is a major retail and residential area of downtown Manitou Springs. Some of the more historical structures, including the clock tower and church, are in this location. Please answer the following questions, and be sure to use data and information from other parts of the exercise to support your answers.

Questions: (1) Like many older bridges in Manitou Springs, the type of bridge at Canon Ave. is a stone arch (Fig. 1). Figure 1. Canon Ave. Bridge. Describe the likely conditions here during a 100-yr. flood. First, use your flood data table to determine flood height at this location. Are the nearby buildings in danger (Fig. 2)? Figure 2.
