Goals
The program in Developing Areas Research and Teaching
(DART) is an interdisciplinary organization at the University
of Colorado located on the Boulder Campus intended to
support research and teaching initiatives in Development
Studies. It draws its membership from a wide array of
faculty in Arts & Sciences, as well as other units
such as Architecture and Planning. The program welcomes
members from all campuses of the University and also
from the community at large. It will serve as a locus
for students and scholars throughout the State of Colorado
and the broader region who will take part in our activities
and utilize our research facilities. The founding of
DART is an acknowledgment that, in the last ten years,
the University of Colorado has secured a nationwide
reputation among research universities in development
studies, perpetuated through the dedicated work of its
faculty and the diverse development and scholarly networks
within which they participate. Our aim is to promote
collaboration among scholars, practitioners, students
and the broader community to envision future directions
for development studies.
DART is focused on facilitating and promoting links
between development research, teaching and practice.
One of DART’s primary goals is to help build and
strengthen an interdisciplinary community of development
scholars, students, community members and professionals
at CU, within Boulder and throughout Colorado. Some
of DART’s activities include: speakers series
and guest lecturers (both academics and development
professionals), graduate level development seminars
taught by leading CU faculty, graduate level development
certificate, development workshops and community outreach.
