Class Objectives
The class will address substantive issues related to activism and the Internet.
But equally important, the class will develop, administer, and analyze a survey
of student organizations and their use of the Internet. A primary objective
of the class is to identify a set of research questions about student activism,
and then design a study to answer those questions. Students will learn
about survey design, sampling, data organization, and some elementary statistical
analysis. The final project in the class will be a collaborative research
report on issues related to student activism and the Internet. As indicated
above, students may wish to use this as the basis of a senior thesis, and
in some cases, an honors thesis.
