Climate and Vegetation

Climate and Vegetation covers introductory topics of the study of the atmosphere, the biosphere and hydrosphere. You will learn about the earth and its relationship with the sun. We will learn about the importance of this relationship for the entire planet through explaining the connections between the climate and the global vegetation patterns . For example, what color should the deserts be in the map below? Answer

This course will give the tools to understand the vegetation patterns of our planet.

More questions... Why are tropical rainforests at the equator?

Why are deserts located at midlatitudes in both hemispheres?

What is the only biome that is located in five places around the world?

Are you ready to go out into the forests near Boulder? In this course, we are going to visit Gregory canyon and Chautauqua Open Space Park to observe and evaluate the current and past patterns of the vegetation near the grassland-forest ecotone....(By the way, what is an ecotone?) Do you want to have a preview of the field sites? Check this out!
