This issue is very important to me.  My family has lived in West Virginia for many generations.  Why is this happening?  I can tell you that West Virginia is a beautiful state.  I can also tell you that mountaintop removal is degrading its value.  It is invasive.  It makes a moonscape out of the mountains.  But most importantly, the people of West Virginia remain extremely poor.  This is happening right here in the United States.  How would you feel if your backyard was ripped down?
