CU URBANIZATION PROJECT

Introduction Maps Methods Conclusion Back to Homepage

The University of Colorado was founded in 1876 on the plains of Boulder, Colorado.  It all started with one building.  In the time since, it has expanded to include over one hundred buildings.  As one can imagine, the growth of the University has had an extreme effect on the environment around it.  The landscape has gone from one of grass and shrubs to one of concrete and planted trees.  This project examines the changes on campus from a completely permeable environment to an environment that has become for a large part impermeable.

The area being mapped is highlighted by the red square on the left.  It is the area including Hellems, Education, Denison, and University Collections.
