STRATEGIES FOR SPARKING DEBATES AND PROBLEM-SOLVING IN ONLINE DISCUSSION FORUMS

Online discussion forums can be ideal places for continuing (or beginning) classroom learning. Professor Laura Winkiel from the Department of English will host a forum on strategies for making online discussions productive places for student learning. She will share her experience with online-only courses, large lecture, and small classroom online discussion forums and will offer ways of integrating online discussions with in-class learning. She will also speak about strategies for getting students to speak to one another via online discussion forums.

Participation in FTEP Workshops and Symposias is open to Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Instructors, Senior Instructors and Scholars-in-Residence, as per your official HR Job Class. If you plan to participate in a symposium conducted by a presenter whose college is different from your own, please be prepared to adapt the recommended teaching tools to the needs of your own discipline.
