Distributed Studies Program

B.A. Degree Only

University of Colorado at Boulder, Department of Fine Arts NOTE: The Distributed Studies Major is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences. If you are interested in establishing this major, you must make an appointment at the College of Arts and Sciences, Old Main 1B-43.

Two-Area Major

Fine Arts as a Primary or Secondary Area
Students are required to complete 30 semester hours of coursework in the Department of Fine Arts, in either studio and/or art history course offerings. A minimum of 15 of these 30 hours must be completed at the UPPER-DIVISION (3000 or above) level. Students must have a minimum 2.00 G.P.A. All 30 hours must be completed at grade C or better.

If you are a tranfer student, you must complete a minimun of 9 hours in studio/art history coursework in residence on the Boulder Campus.

In a two-area major, each department must approve the student's program, and therefore, either department may deny the student's proposal.

Three-Area Major

Fine Arts As Primary Area
Same as above two-major area, with Fine Arts as primary or secondary area.

Fine Arts As Secondary Area
Students must complete a minimun of 15 hours in the Department of Fine Arts, in either studio and/or art history course offerings. A minimum of 8 of these 15 credits must be completed at the upper-division (3000 or above) level. Students must have a m inimum of 2.0 grade point average; all 15 credits must be completed at grade C or better.

If you are a transfer student, you must complete a minimum of 9 hours in studio/art history coursework in residence on the Boulder Campus.

In a three-area major, all three departments involved are required to approve the proposal. Therefore, any one of the three departments may opt to deny the proposal.
