Study Abroad
The department offers a number of opportunities to study abroad including:
Taxco - Studio Arts and the Mexican Aesthetic
On this summer program, Professor George Rivera and students spend three weeks at Hacienda “El Chorrillo”, built in late 1800’s and now the home of Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Centro de Extension Academica, Taxco, Guerrero. Taxco is a small silver mining area where metal arts have thrived since the founding of the community. Taxco is located in the mountains three and a half hours south of Mexico City. Students will experience art-making from a cross cultural perspective, learn how the arts are woven into the fabric of everyday life of Mexican culture and meet students from around the world that share a common interest in the arts.

19th & 20th Century French Art - Paris
This summer program offers an exceptional opportunity to study
19th & 20th Century French Art in Paris. It combines formal
instruction with visits to the great museums of Paris and to architectural
sites in and around the city. Classes at the
Vidéothèque de Paris for viewing films, or the discovery of photography at La Maison
Européenne de la Photographie allow students to consider painting and sculpture in relation to the revolutionary inventions of photography and film. In addition, the program examines African, African American,
and Japanese contributions to French culture.

The Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art (PSCA), Pont Aven, France
On this program, students study contemporary art in a small town that has been an international artist's colony since the 1860s, in large part due to its incredible setting. They visit hot spots of contemporary art throughout Europe: Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, Venice, among others and take courses in English a variety of artistic disciplines: Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Drawing, Conceptual Art, and Illustration and take one French language class. Instructors at PSCA come from leading art institutions in the United States as well as France.
