Painting & Drawing

The diverse faculty of the Drawing & Painting department are accomplished, actively exhibiting artists who encourage graduate students to develop their own aesthetic views. High regard is held for student ideas and every effort is made to help discover and capture these ideas in visual form. This area focuses on diversity, contemporary art and knowledge needed to train the artist. New opportunities include the use of integrated media and the newest computer products available to further broaden an already diverse curriculum.

Printmaking

Printmaking emphasizes exploration in both the traditional printmaking techniques, as well as processes that are non-toxic whenever possible. The printmaking faculty encourages the development of concepts and individual directions through an interdisciplinary approach. Students learn technical skills to then fulfill their artistic visions in any of the following mediums: intaglio, relief, lithography, monotype and alternative methods. Computer imaging as related to image, ideas and medium is also a tool used in printmaking. The studios are equipped for all processes related to each medium with 3 intaglio presses, 3 litho presses, a computer lab with 8 G5s and 2 G4s and 4 large format Epson printers.
