OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS
The Provost and Executive
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs serves as the chief academic
officer on the Boulder campus, and also serves as the Dean of Faculties.
The Provost provides leadership and budgetary support for the undergraduate
and graduate education programs, the research activities of the
faculty, and faculty hiring, promotion, and tenure policies and
procedures. The Provost also provides administrative oversight and
budgetary support for the colleges, schools, and academic support
units of the campus.
The AVC-Faculty Affairs
is responsible for a variety of activities associated with faculty
life and academic programming on the Boulder campus administered
out of the Office of Faculty Affairs. The AVCFA chairs the Vice
Chancellor's Advisory Committee (VCAC), the faculty committee responsible
for secondary review of all reappointment, promotion, and tenure
decisions. Academic program review, post-tenure review, recruitment
and hiring, salary equity reviews, and a variety of faculty grants
and fellowships are administered out of the Office of Faculty Affairs.
Vice Provost and Associate
Vice Chancellor for Budget and Planning
The AVC-Budget and Planning
is responsible for assisting the Provost and the schools and colleges
with issues of budgetary planning and allocations. The AVC-Budget
and Planning is also charged with coordinating and allocating space
within the academic buildings and coordinating capital construction
and renovation needs on campus. Outcomes assessment and campus accreditation
are also administered by the AVC-Budget and Planning.
The AVC-Summer Session
is responsible for working with the schools and colleges to plan,
budget and market Summer Session. In consultation with the deans
of each of the schools and colleges, the AVC-Summer Session has
appointed a Committee of Summer Session Deans to coordinate planning
for the summer program. Faculty interested in teaching in summer
session are encouraged to contact their department chair.
The Associate Vice Chancellor
for Diversity and Equity is responsible for providing leadership,
guidance, and direction for all campus diversity activities, including
the development and implementation of diversity plans and programs,
training, and the coordination of programs and activities with various
divisions, schools and departments of the campus. This position
directs the University's diversity efforts in collaboration with
all three campus divisions, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and
Administration, in order to coordinate initiatives, monitor progress,
and disseminate information across all areas of the campus.
The Associate Vice Chancellor
for Academic and Campus Technology has a leadership role in working
with all campus constituencies in developing a common Information
Technology (IT) policy for the Boulder campus and is responsible
for insuring that major IT policy and budget decisions are made
in the context of that policy. In carrying out these responsibilities,
the AVC works directly with, and is the Chair of, the Campus Policy
Board on Information Technology (CPBIT), comprised of faculty, administrators,
and IT users and providers. Together, the AVC and CPBIT provide
advice to units responsible for delivery of IT services and to the
Chancellor and Vice Chancellors. The AVC and CPBIT are concerned
with activities in units on campus such as: Information Technology
Services, Telecommunications Services, Libraries, University Management
Systems, Faculty Teaching Excellence Program, New Media Center,
Internet2 development, the campus WWW site, Registrar, Financial
Aid.
