Work on grant proposals is free. For other work, the rate is $16 per hour, and payment may be made by personal check or IN. Turnaround time averages five days (grant-related work gets priority).Optical Character Reading (text scanning)Information Technology Services (Diana Dear, x22512; Joan Puryear, x26700)Machine is located at Stadium room 265, gate 9. Service is free with a valid CU ID (or, for very new faculty, a departmental IN filled out for "no charge"). Bring a 3.5" diskette formatted for either DOS or Macintosh. You will need copyright permission or may have to sign a waiver. Turnaround time ranges from two days to two weeks or more, depending on the length of the item; loose sheets can be scanned faster. The software is most accurate with English but will also scan foreign languages that use a roman alphabet; it works less well on FAXed copy or other poor-quality originals, or on material containing boxes, forms, or underlines. Scanning personnel will evaluate your material and tell you whether or not it will scan.
