Site Furnishings
Lighting, benches, trash containers, railings, sculpture, fountains, signage, and other ancillary items provide functional support for the campus environment. Decorative lanterns and appliqués, and miscellaneous ornament are iron accents to the building style. Some are old and some are contemporary, but all are in a black finish. Each item respects the campus vocabulary of materials, or through a complimentary material such as cast bronze, for example. Unless coated black, aluminum is an anomaly. Wood fences, wood tie walls, and wood benches are not welcome due to their impermanence. Signage is by incised, painted, or thin appliquéd letters rather than applied individual letters, such as bronze, aluminum, or plastic.
