University of Colorado Boulder Policy Regarding Surplus Property

I. Policy

It is the policy of the University of Colorado Boulder that Property Services, a unit within the Department of Facilities Management, is designated to provide direction in the disposition of surplus property to best meet the needs of the university.  Procedures and forms relating to surplus property disposal are available at http://www.colorado.edu/facilitiesmanagement/distmail/property/disposal.html.

II. Purpose

The purpose of this administrative regulation is to establish a system for managing surplus property that best accomplishes the following goals:
A. Assist university departments with disposal of their surplus property, providing a systematic means for requesting and providing the pickup of surplus property.
B. Provide accountability for the university to track and utilize surplus property, including providing information on what is available and how to obtain it.
C. Sell remaining surplus property in ways that maximize the return of revenue to the university, and responsibly recycle or dispose of what cannot be sold, utilizing best practices for sustainability.

III. Procedures

A. How to declare and dispose of surplus property.

C. Proper disposal of electronics and hazardous materials.
