Reduce Energy Consumption

Campus Photo
  1. Turn off equipment when it is not in use and encourage others to do the same.
  2. For sophisticated equipment, make it simple for coworkers to turn off equipment by posting procedurs for proper start-up and shutdown. Post instructions on or next to the equipment.
  3. Request timers from lab manager or Energy Conservation Office for equipment that needs to remain on during the day but can be shut-down overnight.
  4. Place stickers on equipment reminding coworkers to shut off equipment.
  5. Unplug equipment that drains energy even when not in use (i.e. cell phone chargers, coffeemakers, desktop printers, radios, etc.) or place them on a power strip that can be turned off.
