Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available to CU Executive MBA students. Four types of scholarships are available to qualifying CU EMBA students: organization-funded, need-based, not-for-profit, and affiliation. The scholarships are intended to support EMBA students who do not have the financial resources to fully fund the program themselves.

Organization-Funded Scholarships

The Denver chapter of ACG (The Association for Corporate Growth) offers The David Sloan University of Colorado Executive MBA Scholarship. This award is a one-time scholarship given to an individual in the first year of the CU Executive MBA program. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average and display and interest in mergers and acquisitions. Students are notified of the application period by the CU Executive MBA Program Director and can then complete the ACG Scholarship Application according to the announced deadline. For additional information, please visit The ACG Scholarship Page.

Need-based Scholarships

For incoming students: MBA offers two program-funded scholarships, called Leadership Awards, to individuals who receive no financial support from their employers and demonstrate economic need. The determination for who has the greatest economic need is obtained from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The award is made shortly after the program begins in order to allow all eligible incoming students to be identified. Disbursement of the award is made each term over the two year CU Executive MBA program.

For second-year (returning) students: The CU Executive MBA offers the Susan Bunker Memorial Scholarship to a second year student. To qualify, students must have a 3.0 grade point average, demonstrate economic need through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and they must submit an essay. Students are notified of the application period by the CU Executive MBA Director and can then submit the essay according to the announced deadline. Recipients receive the award as a one-time disbursement.

Not-For-Profit Scholarships

The CU Executive MBA offers two scholarships to individuals who work for not-for-profit (or Colorado government) organizations. To qualify for the scholarship, the student needs to work for a not-for-profit organization as defined by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service while participating in the Executive MBA.

On entering the program I knew that I would gain great value from the financial analysis and accounting classes. One big surprise though was the great practical benefits I obtained from other courses. Halfway through this class, I basically recovered the financial investment in the program by applying a few key marketing principles at my company.

I learned the value of working collaboratively in a small study group. As the manager of rocket production for my corporation I implemented the small group model where we exchanged ideas on how to streamline the production process. The results were spectacular. We saw a 30 percent reduction in the time span to build a rocket.

To me, what separates this program from other executive MBA programs is the quality of individuals that enroll. I learned a great deal from them and hopefully imparted a little of my own experience and knowledge to them. I believe I made friends for life.
