  • San Diego State University (SDSU) has embarked on an interdisciplinary area of excellence (AoE) program, which is a water-focused initiative that includes multiple disciplines across campus. As part of this effort, the Environmental Engineering Program in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at SDSU now invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of water reuse starting August 2017.  The Department is strongly committed to excellence in both research and education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. SDSU embraces the teacher-scholar model. Therefore, candidates should be active and productive researchers with strengths in the biological, chemical, and physical aspects of environmental engineering and have the ability to enhance and sustain our core environmental engineering curriculum.

  • The Position: Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in environmental engineering, or a closely related discipline, and have the ability and desire to teach environmental engineering courses. Applicants should demonstrate the potential for conducting high-quality extramurally-funded research in the field of water reuse engineering with specific focus including, but not limited to: membrane processes, advanced oxidation processes, sustainable water/wastewater treatment technologies, and treatment of contaminants of emerging concern. The successful candidate should also possess robust teaching abilities. The successful candidate will join and contribute to the interdisciplinary Area of Excellence: “Blue Gold: Mitigating the Effects of Water Scarcity”, which includes three additional new faculty hires in water resources (Geography), environmental health sciences (Public Health), and hydrogeochemistry (Geology). For more information, consult the Blue Gold website (bluegold.sdsu.edu).

  • APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Applications/Nominations: Application review will begin October 31, 2016, and continue until the position is filled. Applicants must apply via Interfolio https://apply.interfolio.com/37493.
