IRC is an international think-and-do tank that works with governments, NGOs, entrepreneurs and people around the world to find long-term solutions to the global crisis in water, sanitation and hygiene services. At the heart of its mission is the aim to move from short-term interventions to sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services.

With over 45 years of experience, IRC runs large-scale programmes in seven focus countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and projects in more than 25 countries. It is supported by a team of around 80 staff across the world.

IRC is seeking an intern for its India Country Office to support the country coordinator which includes: development of tools and training modules; writing; data entry and desk research.

Preferred starting date: Mid-July 2015

Requirements:

§ Applicants must, at a minimum, be enrolled in a recognised (under)graduate programme or have graduated recently.

§ Applicants should be well-organised, self-motivated and reliable, with a strong interest in the water, sanitation and hygiene sector and links with governance, policy and finance.

§ Basic computer skills are required.

§ Writing skills are required.

§ Data analysis skills are highly desirable.

§ Relevant coursework is highly desirable.

§ Good knowledge of English is required and knowledge of  of Hindi and an additional Indian language is a plus.

Conditions:

§ The agreement period shall range between a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 6 months.

§ Interns will receive a proper orientation on the IRC India country office as well as a short version of the IRC induction programme where applicable.

§ The intern shall participate in the introduction and orientation programme of the country coordinator

§ Interns shall organise their own work-permits, visas, accommodation and transport for/within India where required

§ A token amount of 100 EUR per month (for a full-time 36 hour per week position) for a maximum of 6 months if trial period is successful (this is about INR 350 p/d for lunch and local transport).
