Rebecca is a PhD student in the Environmental Studies Program.  She received a BA from Colorado College in International Sustainable Development and a Masters of Environmental Management at the Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke University.  After directing the Environmental Center at Fort Lewis College, where she had the opportunity to teach a few courses for the Environmental Studies Program, she realized she wanted to pursue her passion as an educator and work toward teaching in higher education.  In addition to classroom teaching, Rebecca spent over eight years working as outdoor educator with NOLS, the High Mountain Institute, and various other organizations.  She is interested in people's connection to and values toward the environment, environmental engagement, and community resilience and is currently researching the link between ecological citizenship and social capital through citizen science programs.  As a Colorado native, Rebecca is an addicted outdoor enthusiast and spends most of her free time scaling rock faces with her husband.
