Are you a sophomore, junior or senior ENVD student who wants to foster a network of support for first-year ENVD students?
 
Do you want to aid in the academic, emotional and cultural adjustment of first-year ENVD students?
 
Would you like to promote leadership in the student body and inspire a culture of giving and volunteerism in the Program in Environmental Design?
 
Then the ENVD Peer Mentoring program is just for you!

Peer Mentor Application



We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are an ENVD student of upper-class standing (at least 30 credit hours)
  • Have at least one full academic year remaining in their academic career
  • Possess strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills
  • Be able to relate to people of diverse backgrounds
  • Can commit to volunteering approximately 1-2 hours of work weekly
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 and be in good academic standing
  • Have a sincere desire to help first-year students in transitioning to ENVD and the University of Colorado Boulder

Peer Mentors will:

  • Provide support, guidance, encouragement and information to first-year mentees
  • Maintain high levels of confidentiality and ethical standards
  • Check-in with mentee weekly
  • Meet with mentee once a month to talk about goals for the semester
  • Record and report all student interactions
  • Help students become familiar with university resources and advise and refer students to appropriate university resources as needed
  • Attend mentor trainings/meetings/outings
  • Enroll in the Peer Mentor Leadership Seminar during the fall semester

All mentors use Toggle to record their interactions with mentees. Toggl is an online software available on any computer or mobile device that tracks time for any activity. Our Peer Mentors are required to log their time with their mentees on their Toggl accounts, by simply typing in what they did with their mentees, and Toggl automatically records the time.
