The Assistant Dean for Students provides leadership and management of activities of the college related to undergraduate student progress from admission to graduation. This includes coordinating the admissions process for freshmen and transfer students, new student orientation, management of the process by which the academic progress of the college’s undergraduates is monitored and recorded, oversight of academic advising, managing the college’s scholarship procedures, coordinating graduation activities, and representing the college to internal and external constituencies. The position is a resource for undergraduate students and parents on all matters related to college academic policies.
Mary Steiner has a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan, and a Master of Library Science from Rutgers University. She is a member of the American Society for Engineering Education and NACADA, the National Academic Advising Association.
Prior to joining the College of Engineering and Applied Science in August 2006, she directed the physical sciences and engineering libraries at the University of Pennsylvania.
