The Engineering Recognition Ceremony celebrates the imminent graduation of College of Engineering and Applied Science bachelor's, master's, and doctoral students. It is held twice a year (May and December), the day before the University Commencement. At the Engineering Recognition Ceremony, graduates are recognized individually by name and take the traditional walk across the stage to receive their diploma cover.
Graduating students are invited to participate in either one or both graduation events. The information below pertains to the Engineering Recognition Ceremony only. For information regarding University Commencement, click here.
Date: Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Time: Students should report to the Coors Events Center by 12:15 p.m.
Place: Coors Events Center (South entrance, upper level)
Dress: Degree candidates are encouraged to wear a cap and gown. Undergraduates wearing regalia should have their tassel on the right; all graduate students should wear their tassel on the left. PhD students MUST be in academic regalia; please carry your hood, do not wear it. Information about purchase or rental of academic regalia may be found on the University Commencement website.
Name Cards: All degree candidates are to check in on the 2nd floor of the Coors Events Center, South Entrance, and pick up your name card so that you can give it to the reader on stage. Then proceed to your designated assembly area, below. (NOTE: Candidates coming to the ceremony directly from a final examination should check in, pick up their name card, and follow instructions from staff on where to assemble.)
Assembly Area: Please refer to the list below for your meeting place. Our staff will line you up by academic degree program for the processional. Guests should not accompany the candidates to this assembly area.

Processional: The processional will begin with the PhD candidates, then the Master's and Bachelor's candidates. Please remain standing until the platform party is on stage.
If you have a physical condition that will not allow you to use the stage, please contact the Dean's Office at 303-492-5071 by April 30 so alternate arrangements can be made.
Guests: Family and friends should use the Northwest entrance of the Coors Events Center. Guests and students with special mobility needs may use the elevator on the north side to enter the arena from the ground floor level.
Only degree candidates will be allowed on the platform during the ceremony. All candidates will be directed by an usher to form a line to the stage. When you reach the stage stairs, follow the directions of the staff at the stage; proceed up the steps and hand your name card to the reader. Cross the stage as your name is read and then return to your seat as directed by the ushers. If you have a physical condition that will not allow you to use the stage, please contact the Dean's Office at 303-492-5071 by April 30 so alternate arrangements can be made. Family and friends are not to accompany degree candidates.
A professional photographer will be present. The photographer will contact you directly about purchasing these optional photographs. To assist the photographer, please do not fold your name card.
Guests: Family and friends should use the stairs at the northwest entrance of the Coors Events Center. Guests and students with special mobility needs should enter the northwest entrance of the Coors Events Center at street level to use the elevator.

This Recognition Ceremony will last approximately 2 hours. Please remain in your seat until all the graduates have been recognized and the platform party has exited the stage.
