CU Boulder faculty, students and research centers collaborate with partners across the aerospace, defense, energy, biosciences, information technology, and communications sectors. Faculty also engage in direct consulting relationships with industry and technology commercialization through start-up ventures. The college offers education advancement and corporate partnering opportunities which do not primarily involve research, to learn more visit the college partners page.

National Network for Manufacturing Innovation

As one example, we collaborate with industry partners through the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation, a White House initiative directed at growing the manufacturing base in the U.S. through investments by federal agencies, including the Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and Department of Commerce, in joint Industry-University partnerships, or Institutes. CU Boulder, represented by the college, is engaged in several of the NNMI Institutes.

The following campus offices directly support the college in its outreach and engagement with industry partners:

CU Boulder Office of Industry Collaboration

The Office of Industry Collaboration promotes synergistic opportunities for engagement between CU Boulder and industry and business. The office helps companies navigate the campus, whether the goal is to seek an academic partner or new hires, develop employee education and training opportunities, cultivate new product ideas, or promote itself to future employees and customers.

CU Boulder Venture Partners

With expertise in patents, copyrights and licensing, CU Boulder Venture Partners (formerly the Technology Transfer Office) helps translate discovery into impact through transparent, flexible, best practice intellectual property management services, and connects campus researchers with a variety of commercialization programs in the university and the community.

Questions regarding the college’s research and innovation activities with industry should be sent to the Office of the Associate Dean for Research at ADROffice@colorado.edu.
