Karl G. Linden is the Helen and Huber Croft Professor of Environmental Engineering at CU-Boulder. His research focuses on advanced treatment technologies for water and wastewater reuse applications. In August 2012, the Linden-led team was awarded $780,000 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as part of the Reinvent the Toilet Challenge. Linden's team is developing a method to use solar energy to provide safe, sanitary waste disposal in developing communities. Professor Linden holds a BS in agricultural and biological engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and master's and doctoral degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the University of California, Davis.
