I applied to the College of Engineering and Applied Science but wasn't admitted. Can I still major in engineering?
Yes! The majority of courses first-year engineering students take are open to all CU-Boulder students. First-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences who are interested in transitioning into the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences can join the Pre-Engineering Program, offering a structured pathway of CU-Boulder course work applicable to engineering requirements as well as academic advising support from both colleges.
Students in other colleges, or students above the first-year level, are also able to apply for an intra-university transfer (IUT). See the IUT information page for details on courses you may wish to take as you get ready to apply for an IUT; within their first year, engineering students take two calculus courses and two appropriate laboratory science courses, and doing so as you prepare to transfer can help keep you on track for your engineering degree.
