 EVEN 4100
Environmental Sampling and Analysis
Fall 2005

Laboratory Photographs

EVEN 4100 students observe the installation of a monitoring well near the soccer field on the East Research Campus.  Proper safety equipment (hard hat, ear plugs, gloves, steel-toed shoes) is required for participation in the laboratories.
Students examine soil samples in acrylic sleeves removed from a split-spoon sampler.  Soil and sediment characteristics are logged into field books and presented in laboratory reports.
Instructor Jeremy Kolenbrander demonstrates the technique for measuring the depth of water in a monitoring well.
Students measure the depth to the water at a series of monitoring wells on the East Research Campus to create a map of the water table.
The class goes in all weather except lightning storms.  Dress for the weather!
