You will probably find that your schedule as an engineering student is very busy. However, you CAN fit everything in if you plan ahead. Plan to attend each class (if you are absent for some reason, the lecture slides are generally posted on CULearn). Scan any "related reading" assignment BEFORE coming to class. This fosters a more active learning environment that benefits everyone.

Plan that you will spend approximately 2 hours of outside work on the reading and homework assignments per week. The assignment points roughly correlate to the amount of time that the assignment is expected to take - so a 100 point assignment should take you about 6 hours; if you plan ahead, this time would be invested across multiple weeks of the semester. Don’t wait until the last minute to start the assignments. Starting an assignment early also ensures that you can ask for help if you have questions.

Professional Society meetings are generally ~50 minutes long in the evenings. I will announce these opportunities in-class throughout the semester. There are often NO meetings after Thanksgiving Break. So be sure to fit a meeting into your schedule earlier in the semester. (The write-up is simply turned in at the end of the semester, but it can certainly be done early.)
