Reseach Area:

Photocatalytic Decomposition on TiO2 and Pt/TiO2

Elucidating how weakly adsorbed water dramatically increases the rate of photocatalytic decomposition of hazardous organic contaminants on TiO2 and Pt/TiO2 through a combination of experimental and computational quantum calculations.  Techniques include:  Static Adsorption and BET surface area measurements, Temperature Programmed Desorption, Mass spectrometry, Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP), and Amsterdam Density Functional program (ADF).
